Princeton University Chapel Mander-Skinner Organ

Central New Jersey is are not exactly a ski destination, nor is it a tropical escape from winter weather. So, the question remains, why on earth would anyone want to visit Central New Jersey in January? Because, for those guests who enjoy the possibility of a little snow and an opportunity to skip all the obvious tourist spots and do something a little different, Mercer County NJ can be a wonderful place to explore!

Here are five of our favorite things to do in the area during the Winter months!

NJ State Museum: So often overlooked, our under-rated state capital boasts a fantastic museum well worth a day or two of exploring. Wander through many interesting exhibits AND take in the weekly planetarium show!

Princeton University Chapel Concerts: One of the most beautiful buildings on Princeton University campus, the Chapel hosts unforgettable concerts open to the public.

McCarter Theatre Shows: Definitely a Princeton gem, McCarter has shows and concerts throughout the winter. Grab tickets to “Here are the Blueberries” or see the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra perform!

Mercer County Skating Center

Ice Skating at Mercer County Park: Go for a twirl at Mercer County Skating Center, an open-air, sheltered skating facility. Come for Open Skate or take a Group Lesson!

Grounds for Sculpture: Known mostly for its outdoor sculptures, GFS also has many INDOOR exhibits to peruse and enjoy year round.

Maybe you just want to recharge your batteries with an overnight stay at the Inn and do NOTHING! Pick up one of our many books or puzzles and hibernate among the history of the Great Room or the sun soaked Parlor. Spend the entire day in one of our cozy beds “hurkle durkle-ing!” We promise we won’t tell anyone!
